4. What cartridges have no recycling value? (cont.)

Type two: "non-virgin" - previously remanufactured cartridges:
Another certainty is that you will receive both inkjet and laser No Value - non-virgin cartridges. A non-virgin cartridge is one that has been previously remanufactured and refilled. It no longer has the original manufacturer label on it. Many of your supporters will have purchased and used remanufactured cartridges in their homes and businesses, and they will send them in to you. Unfortunately once a cartridge has been remanufactured one time, its reliability greatly diminishes if it were to be remanufactured again. The quality remanufacturers will not pay for "Non-Virgin" cartridges because they are ultimately responsible to their customers and must provide cartridges that work properly. Cartridges that have been refilled multiple times are not reliable. It is easy to identify non-virgin cartridges and remove them from your shipment. The Remanufacturers must remove the original manufacturer label and put their own label on the remanufactured cartridge. Simply look for cartridges with off-brand labels and remove these cartridges from your shipment. If the cartridge say anything other than Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, IBM, Canon, Compaq, Panasonic, Xerox, Pitney Bowes, Sharp or Apple, it is non-virgin . Also look for cartridges with no labels at all, or some sticker on it indicated that it is has been previously recycled or remanufactured.

Type two: low or no value laser toner cartridges
No value laser toner cartridges are those that are not listed on our eligible cartridge list in section 4 of our fundraising manual. There are many virgin laser/toner cartridges that have values below $3.00, which means it would cost more to ship them than they are worth. This is the reason they are not listed as eligible cartridges.

Notice: Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, IBM, Canon, Compaq, Panasonic, Xerox, Pitney Bowes, Sharp and Apple are the registered and liscenced trademarks of their respective manufacturers.
